Mary G. Zahn Severino is the founder and owner of MGZA. With an architectural education that combined the practical with the possible, Ms. Severino has carried this philosophy for over fifteen years of leadership at MGZA. Melding her strong communication abilities with her strength in creative design, Ms. Severino offers MGZA’s clients a business-oriented leader that continues to achieve excellence in the design of finished buildings. Distinguished for her honesty, as well as creativity, Ms. Severino builds a foundation of mutual trust with her clients, allowing her to lead projects with a classic purity of interest toward owner objectives. Ms. Severino continues to hold a deep sense of pride and responsibility toward the practice of architectural consultation, an attitude that extends to all of her project work, large or small in scope.

Ms. Severino’s portfolio of work includes her experience on the design teams of Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport, the Jimmy Carter Library, and the Joe Lewis Arena, in Detroit. In Wilmington, Delaware, Ms. Severino has led the renovation of several prominent city landmarks, including Rockford Tower, the Brandywine Pumping Station, and a waterfront warehouse, which became home to Amtrak’s Consolidated National Operations Center, as well as the springboard for the City’s Riverwalk development

A specialist in organizational strategies, strategic building assessment and project progress management, Ms. Severino has been on advisory teams to several major organizations prior to their finalizing actions affecting facility decisions. Facility consultation efforts have included work for the City of Philadelphia, NorthEast Treatment Centers, American Baptist Churches USA, Bell Atlantic and David’s Bridal.

Ms. Severino’s recent work has been diverse, with projects that include the headquarters of Dansko Inc., regional headquarters of Manhattan-based BlackRock Capital Management, two major building conversion and relocation efforts for PFPC Worldwide, strategic planning for the headquarters of Artesian Water Company and building rehab work for the University of Delaware; Clayton Hall and Pencader Hall Conference and Dining buildings.

Mary Severino has held membership in the American Institute of Architects, since 1982.A long-time member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, Ms. Severino received the 1996 “Woman Business Owner of the Year” award. She is also active with the Easter Seals, Special Olympics and the International Facility Management Association.
